She grabbed the No. 1 spot on Maxim’s Hot 100 2009 list. We’d gladly give up steak for a day to spend an evening eating tofurkey and drinking organic wine with this vegan actress. Unfortunately, she’s already married to documentary
We were first took notice of Olivia Wilde when she joined the cast of The O.C. as Bi. Alex Kelly. And when she finally seduced Mischa Barton’s character, Marissa, we felt a little less embarrassed about dabbling in a teen drama on Thursday nights. Nowadays, you can see Wilde playing a young doctor on the award-winning drama House opposite Hugh Laurie (lab coats have never looked better), as well as in the big screen comedy Year One opposite Michael Cera and Jack Black.

Even though we’ve always preferred Rachel Bilson, there’s no denying Mischa Barton’s natural beauty. Her gazelle-like frame, gaunt cheek bones, and saucer eyes, often soaked with sadness, lend her a redeeming quality that the Lohans and Hiltons of the world lack. That’s why it pained us when the former Calvin Klein model resident of People magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People In The World” list dated several inductees into the greasebag hall of fame including Cisco Adler, Brandon Davis and The Kooks frontman Luke Pritchard. When paparazzi photos of a much plumper Barton surfaced recently, the reeling actress was forced to defend her physical transformation, citing dental work as the cause of her puffy face. Right, and dental work is why we have a beer gut too.
Mischa Barton burst onto the scene as a young actress, immersed in a sea of promise. At only 8 years old, Barton starred in many highly regarded Off-Broadway plays including esteemed writer Tony Kushner’s Slavs! and James Lapine’s Twelve Dreams, before wowing audiences in the critically acclaimed indie film Lawn Dogs, and holding her own opposite Hollywood heavyweights Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant in Notting Hill, and Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense. But it wasn’t until Barton landed the role as Marissa Cooper on FOX’s global hit The O.C. that she achieved household-name status. Barton’s fame skyrocketed, with Entertainment Weekly proclaiming her their “It Girl” for 2003. Then, something terrible happened. Marissa Cooper was killed off and Barton’s ensuing attempt at a film career has largely fallen flat. Films like Closing the Ring, Virgin Territory and Walled-In have been straight to DVD clunkers, and a slew of films waiting to be released will most likely fade away into irrelevance. Barton’s final shot at success may be on Ashton Kutcher’s series The Beautiful Life — about a group of models living in New York — on which production has been halted due to Barton’s recent struggles. Now, if only she can get out of that straight jacket.
