Stupid Media Acting Crazy during Mumbai 11/26 Crisis

बस! अब बहुत हो चुका। पिछले 45 घंटों से एक घटना टीवी चैनलों के लिए ‘रियलिटी शो’ में तब्दील हो गई है। भारत पर हमला हुआ है। इसके महत्व और गंभीरता को शायद उस अर्थ में समझा ही नहीं जा रहा। सेना और पुलिस किस वक्त क्या कर रही है, यह सीधा प्रसारित करने का क्या मतलब? सबसे आगे, सबसे तेज और सबसे अलग रहने की यह जिद अब परेशान कर रही है। मुंबई ही नहीं, पूरा देश दहशत में है और लगातार सीधा प्रसारण इस दहशत को कम करने के बजाय और बढ़ा रहा है।
लगातार हो रही आलोचनाओं के बावजूद देश के इले‍क्ट्रॉनिक मीडिया ने कोई सबक नहीं लिया है। कारगिल, गुजरात भूकंप, गोधरा और अब मुंबई। सभी घटनाओं में मीडिया ने अधिकतर नासमझी ही दिखाई है। यह युद्ध है। यह सीमा रेखा पर नहीं, शहर के बीचोबीच लड़ा जा रहा युद्ध है। यह गोरिल्ला युद्ध भारतीय सेना की कठिनाई को और बढ़ा रहा है। ऐसे में श्रेष्ठ तो यही होगा कि किसी फिल्म की तरह दिखाए जा रहे इस ‘लाइव शो’ को बंद कर केवल छनी हुई और महत्वपूर्ण खबरें ही सामने आएँ। सेना पूरे दम से कार्रवाई करे और जरूरी खबरें मीडिया को बता दी जाएँ।

अभी-अभी टीवी पर एक दृश्य देखा और मन गुस्से से भर गया। पूरे 40 घंटे ताज होटल में बंद रहने के बाद एक अमेरिकी महिला सेना की मदद से बाहर निकली। उसका लगभग दो साल का एक बच्चा भी था, जिसे ताज होटल के ही एक कर्मी ने गोद में उठा रखा था। वो महिला और ताज का कर्मी बार-बार हाथ जोड़कर विनती कर रहे थे कि उन्हें परेशान न किया जाए, उनसे कोई सवाल न पूछा जाए, लेकिन मीडिया वाले थे कि गाड़ी में बैठकर निकल जाने तक उनके पीछे लगे हुए थे, माइक और कैमरा लेकर। …और सवाल क्या पूछ रहे थे, ‘आपको कैसा लग रहा है?’ क्या वाहियात सवाल है यह। कोई 40 घंटों तक इतने खौफनाक घटनाक्रम के बीच मौत से जूझकर बाहर आएगा तो उसे कैसा लगेगा?

एक और दृश्य में ताज से बचाकर निकाली गई संभ्रांत महिला ने जब मीडिया के सवालों से बचना चाहा तो सीधे प्रसारण के दौरान ही उससे उसका मोबाइल नंबर माँगा गया, ताकि फोन पर उसका वक्तव्य लिया जा सके! यह कैसी अभद्रता है? क्या कवरेज के चक्कर में हम मूल भावनाएँ और शिष्टता ही भूल गए?

9/11 के दौरान अमेरिकी मीडिया के परिदृश्य की याद दिलाने की जरूरत नहीं होना चाहिए, जो इसके ठीक विपरीत था। सारे चैनल केवल एक लाइन प्रमुखता से लिख रहे थे- ‘वॉर ऑन अमेरिका’। न सरकार के खिलाफ कोई टिप्पणी हुई न राजनीतिक छींटाकशी। मीडिया ही नहीं, एक राष्ट्र के रूप में हम सभी को और परिपक्व होने की जरूरत है।

Small but Interesting History of Hotel Taj

Here is a small but interesting history of Hotel Taj owned by TATA Group. Taj hotel is still under terrorist attacks and firing is still going on after few terrorist entered Mumbai to disturb the peace and causing lot of destruction which brings tears to my eyes. Any ways here is the cute piece of history of Taj Hotel.

THE BRAINCHILD of wealthy industrialist Jamsetji Tata (1839-1904), the Taj hotel was built at a cost of a £250,000 more than 100 years ago, and boasted such features as the first air-conditioned ballroom in the country and a Turkish bath.

One story of its origin is that Tata took a foreign friend to dinner in a plush Mumbai hotel, only to be told he was not welcome as he was Indian.

Slighted, he vowed to build a finer hotel that would welcome all Indians, and set about his mission with zeal. He leased a plot of reclaimed land on Mumbai’s seafront, and became involved in the hotel’s design and interiors, shopping in London, Dusseldorf, Berlin and Paris.
